Tenugui “Fuji to Matsu” – HAMAMONYO, 100% cotton, made in Japan
Tenugui “Fuji to Matsu” – Japanese cotton cloth
The eternal mountain and the silent pine
A powerful motif with clear symbolism: The majestic Mount Fuji (富士山) rises beneath a red morning sun, while pine trees with vibrant green and undulating branches stand tall. Two cranes cross the sky—a symbol of happiness and longevity. This scene of Japanese natural aesthetics was meticulously designed by the traditional Yokohama-based company HAMAMONYO and printed on the finest cotton fabric using the complex Yokohama wet technique.
The cloth is not only decorative but also versatile: As gift wrapping (furoshiki), a wall hanging, a scarf, or a table runner, it brings peace and dignity to everyday life. The cotton used is chlorine-free bleached, skin-friendly, and woven specifically for tenugui.
Awarded the Gold Award of the OMOTENASHI Selection – a testament to high quality, traditional craftsmanship and timeless design.
