Tenugui “Kosagi no Yumezakura” – HAMAMONYO, 100% cotton, made in Japan
Tenugui “Kosagi no Yumezakura” – Japanese cotton cloth
Spring rest under blossoming cherry branches
This tenugui depicts an elegant little egret (kosagi, kosagi) standing still in a pond covered with blossoms. Above it stretch delicate branches covered with cherry blossoms (sakura, sakura) , reflected in the water. The color gradients from soft pink to clear blue create a dreamlike, almost meditative atmosphere—as if time stands still.
This motif is manufactured by the long-established Yokohama-based company HAMAMONYO , which has specialized in the Yokohama wet dyeing technique for over 75 years. The cotton fabric used is chlorine-free, skin-friendly, and was developed specifically for tenugui production.
A calm, poetic design for all those who want to find a moment of inner contemplation in the beauty of spring.
The motif was awarded the “Gold Award” by the OMOTENASHI Selection – a sign of outstanding Japanese craftsmanship and stylish design.
