Traditional craftsmanship with summer freshness

This tenugui combines delicate Japanese nature motifs with traditional craftsmanship. It is manufactured by the Yokohama-based family business HAMAMONYO – a manufacturer with over 75 years of experience in the traditional wet-print dyeing technique (Yokohama Nassen). The motif is hand-printed on a fine cotton fabric that is bleached without chlorine and specially developed for tenugui production. It is soft, skin-friendly, and pleasantly light.

It depicts green summer maple leaves (夏紅葉, natsu momiji) spreading over a stylized water scene with a goldfish bowl (金魚鉢, kingyo-bachi) . The composition evokes a calm summer day in the shade—refreshing, vibrant, and clear. A small scene that appeals to both the eyes and the heart.

Whether as a towel, gift wrapping (furoshiki), headband, table runner or decoration: This tenugui is versatile, easy to care for and accompanies everyday life with quiet quality.

• The raw edges may fray slightly during washing—this is typical of tenugui and not a defect. Excess threads can easily be trimmed with scissors.
