This magnificent Furoshiki carries the name 大布 桜にしき (Ōfu Sakura Nishiki) – "large cloth, cherry-blossom brocade". The term Nishiki (錦) denotes Japan's finest brocade fabrics, once reserved for the nobility. The design is a modern homage to that textile splendour: large, stylised Sakura (桜) blossoms in cream white and warm pink unfold against sweeping expanses of deep vermilion and earthy mustard yellow. Fine Shippō (七宝) circles form an elegant textured pattern in the background, lending the motif depth and brocade-like opulence. The undulating composition recalls traditional Yamamichi (山道, "mountain paths") patterns and symbolises the gentle hills of the Japanese landscape in spring. An ideal cloth for festive occasions, weddings or as an especially valuable gift.

  • Washing: Machine washing up to 40 °C is perfectly fine. For strong colors (especially red/dark blue), we recommend washing separately the first time to prevent color bleeding.
  • Drying: Air dry is best. The shantung fabric dries quickly.
  • Ironing: The characteristic texture of the shantung fabric is best preserved if the cloth is shaken out after washing and air-dried. If necessary, iron on a low to medium heat setting.
  • Note: Do not use bleach to protect color brilliance.
