This opulent Furoshiki carries the name 大布 梅にしき (Ōfu Ume Nishiki) – "large cloth, plum-blossom brocade". The term Nishiki (錦) refers to traditional Japanese brocade fabrics, once reserved for nobles and court officials and a symbol of the highest craftsmanship. The design is a modern homage to this fine textile tradition: large, stylised Ume (梅) blossoms in bright red, deep black and pure white unfold on a golden ground finely interwoven with the classic Asanoha (麻の葉) pattern. Curving Kumo (雲, clouds) bands run through the composition, creating movement and depth. The plum blossom stands for perseverance and new beginnings, as it blooms already in late winter – combined with gold and Nishiki, the result is a powerful motif for festive occasions such as New Year, weddings or special gifts.

  • Washing: Machine washing up to 40 °C is perfectly fine. For strong colors (especially red/dark blue), we recommend washing separately the first time to prevent color bleeding.
  • Drying: Air dry is best. The shantung fabric dries quickly.
  • Ironing: The characteristic texture of the shantung fabric is best preserved if the cloth is shaken out after washing and air-dried. If necessary, iron on a low to medium heat setting.
  • Note: Do not use bleach to protect color brilliance.
