Four-Leaf Clover in Modern Black and White Contrast

This expressive Furoshiki is named 大布 四つ葉小紋 クロ (Ōfu Yotsuba Komon Kuro) – "Large Cloth, Four-Leaf Small Pattern in Black." The design impresses with its modern contrast: a diagonal line divides the square surface into two halves – on one side, black Yotsuba (四つ葉), stylized four-leaf clovers, on a cream-white background, and on the other, white four-leaf clovers on a deep black background. The four-leaf clover is considered a symbol of good luck in Japan, promising rarity and special blessings. Arranged as Komon (小紋) – a traditional small pattern from the kimono era – the motif unfolds a timeless, graphic elegance.

Your Advantages at a Glance

  • Suitable size for many uses: Perfect for larger gifts, bottles, as a knot bag (with our leather handles in three colors, even as an elegant handbag), or as a decorative accent at home.
  • Grippy fabric: The cotton shantung is grippy, knots reliably, and gives the cloth a high-quality texture.
  • Reusable instead of disposable: A Furoshiki can be used again and again – aesthetics meet sustainable packaging.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I tie a Furoshiki into a carrying bag?

You can learn the classic knotting techniques "Bin Tsutsumi" (for bottles) or "Otsukai Tsutsumi" (as a carrying bag) in just a few minutes. With our leather handles, the cloth even becomes an elegant handbag – available in three colors.

Can I wash the Furoshiki?

Yes – machine washing up to 40 °C is easily possible. Do not use fabric softener to maintain the grippy texture of the cotton shantung.

Is the cloth really more sustainable than wrapping paper?

Significantly. A single Furoshiki replaces hundreds of single-use packages over its lifetime. Made from 100% cotton, plastic-free, and compostable at the end of its life.

Manufactured by HAMAMONYO, since 1948 in Yokohama. The combination of high-quality cotton shantung, careful craftsmanship, and detailed design makes this Furoshiki a durable companion.

Care and instructions

  • Washing: Machine wash up to 40 °C is easily possible. For strong colors (especially red/dark blue), we recommend washing separately for the first wash to avoid color bleeding.
  • Drying: Air dry is best. The shantung fabric dries quickly.
  • Ironing: The characteristic structure of the shantung fabric is best preserved if the cloth is shaken out after washing and air-dried. If necessary, smooth with an iron on a low to medium setting.
  • Note: Do not use bleach to protect color brilliance.
