This stylish tenugui is called花と縞 オレンジオフ (Hana to Shima Orange Off) – “Flowers and Stripes Orange-Natural White”. It combines two classic design elements of Japanese textile art in a high-contrast, vertical division.

The right side of the scarf is adorned with a rhythmic pattern of orange hana (花) – flowers – whose circular arrangement is reminiscent of traditional family crests (kamon). The left side, with its simple, gray vertical stripes, the shima (縞) , provides a modern counterpoint. This combination of warm orange and cool gray on a natural white background lends the tenugui a timeless elegance, making it perfect for both traditional occasions and as a modern home accessory.

Note on authenticity: As is typical with traditional tenugui, the short sides are unhemmed . This allows the cloth to dry faster. Slight fraying at first is normal; any excess threads can be carefully trimmed. The edge will stabilize itself after the first few washes.
