Tenugui "Hishimatsu Koume"

Pine rue and delicate plum blossoms in timeless elegance

This elegant tenugui is called菱松小梅 (Hishimatsu Koume) – “Diamond Pine and Small Plum Blossom”. It displays a harmonious interplay of geometric rigor and floral delicacy, celebrating the transition from winter to spring.

At the center are the diamond-shaped hishi (菱) , formed here from stylized pine needles of the matsu (松) tree – a symbol of longevity and permanence. Small, bright red and pink koume (小梅) , the tiny plum blossoms, add fresh accents. The combination of vibrant green and wintry red on a light background lends the design a festive yet calming atmosphere, reminiscent of the first sunny days of the year.

The design comes from HAMAMONYO , a long-established textile manufacturer from Yokohama. Thanks to the Yokohama wet printing technique, the colors appear particularly vibrant and clear, even in subtle color gradients.
