Springtime tranquility beneath blossoming cherry branches
This tenugui depicts an elegant little egret (kosagi) standing motionless in a flower-strewn pond. Above it stretch delicate branches laden with cherry blossoms (sakura) , their reflections shimmering in the water. The color gradients, from soft pink to clear blue, create a dreamlike, almost meditative atmosphere – as if time stands still.
This design is produced by the long-established Yokohama-based company HAMAMONYO , which has specialized in the Yokohama wet dyeing technique for over 75 years. The cotton fabric used is chlorine-free bleached, skin-friendly, and was specially developed for the production of tenugui.
A calm, poetic design for all those who wish to find a moment of inner reflection in the beauty of spring.
The design was awarded the “Gold Award” by the OMOTENASHI Selection – a mark of outstanding Japanese craftsmanship and stylish design.
