Springtime splendor in gentle flight
This tenugui features a harmonious spring motif with cherry blossoms and birds in soft colors. It is made by the family-run company HAMAMONYO in Yokohama – a manufacturer with over 75 years of experience in the traditional wet-dyeing technique (Yokohama Nassen). The design is hand-printed onto a fine cotton fabric that is chlorine-free bleached and specially developed for tenugui production. It is soft, skin-friendly, and pleasantly lightweight.
The painting depicts dancing cherry blossoms (mai-zakura) in red, pink, and white, accompanied by the Japanese bush warbler (uguisu) , a popular symbol of spring. A view through a round window reveals a scene full of lightness and movement—like a delicate greeting from a blossoming garden.
Whether as a towel, gift wrapping (Furoshiki), headband, table runner or decoration: This Tenugui is versatile, easy to care for and accompanies everyday life with quiet quality.
The design was awarded the “Gold Award” of the OMOTENASHI Selection in 2022 – a recognition of Japanese hospitality, craftsmanship and design.
