Tenugui “Nakayoshi Shimaenaga”

This tenugui depicts a scene that exudes tranquility and unity. It is crafted by the family-run company HAMAMONYO in Yokohama – a manufacturer with over 75 years of experience in the traditional wet-dyeing technique (Yokohama Nassen). The design is hand-printed onto a fine cotton fabric that is chlorine-free bleached and specially developed for tenugui production. It is soft, skin-friendly, and pleasantly lightweight.

The image depicts several adorable snow tits (シマエナガ) perched close together on a blossoming branch. The motif is a charming representation of closeness, togetherness, and lightness. The subtle colors and playful design create a welcoming atmosphere – ideal for those who appreciate delicate nature motifs and clean lines.

Whether as a towel, gift wrapping (Furoshiki), headband, table runner or decoration: This Tenugui is versatile, easy to care for and accompanies everyday life with quiet quality.

The design was awarded the “Gold Award” of the OMOTENASHI Selection in 2022 – a recognition of Japanese hospitality, craftsmanship and design.
