Spring awakening during a walk
This tenugui depicts a cheerful spring stroll beneath a sky filled with blooming cherry blossoms (sakura) . Two cats leisurely cross a delicate bridge, while pink and white blossoms cascade gracefully from above. The scene captures the atmosphere of a tranquil afternoon during ohanami – the Japanese tradition of enjoying the beauty of cherry blossoms.
It is manufactured by the long-established family business HAMAMONYO in Yokohama – a specialist in the Yokohama wet dyeing technique with over 75 years of experience. The cotton fabric used is chlorine-free bleached, pleasantly soft, skin-friendly, and was specially developed for Tenugui production.
The subtle color transitions from light blue to rich indigo lend the design depth and lightness. The playful yet stylish scene elegantly expresses the joy of spring.
Whether as a towel, gift wrapping (Furoshiki), headband, table runner or wall decoration: This Tenugui is versatile, easy to care for and an authentic piece of Japanese craftsmanship.
