Tenugui "Sakura Geshiki"

Cherry blossoms in all their glory by moonlight

This Tenugui shows a delicate spring motif with cherry blossoms (桜, sakura) dancing before a bright full moon. The scene feels like something from a dream: white and red petals float through the air, while a stylised hill gently rounds off the composition in the background. It is made by the long-established family business HAMAMONYO in Yokohama – an expert in the Yokohama Nassen stencil-dyeing technique with more than 75 years of experience. The cotton fabric used is chlorine-free bleached, soft, kind to the skin and developed specifically for Tenugui production.

The colours shift from pale pink to deep red, recalling the beautiful cherry blossoms of spring. The calm, almost meditative motif speaks of transience, new beginnings and quiet moments of reflection.
