Tenugui “Seseragi Kingyo” – HAMAMONYO, 100% cotton, made in Japan
Tenugui “Seseragi Kingyo” – Japanese cotton cloth
Traditional craftsmanship with summer lightness
This tenugui combines Japanese nature motifs with traditional craftsmanship. It is manufactured by the family-run company HAMAMONYO in Yokohama – a manufacturer with over 75 years of experience in the traditional wet-print dyeing technique (Yokohama Nassen). The motif is hand-printed on a fine cotton fabric that is bleached without chlorine and specially developed for tenugui production. It is soft, skin-friendly, and pleasantly light.
The image depicts luminous goldfish (金魚) gliding through a babbling brook (せせらぎ) between aquatic plants and wavy lines. The composition is reminiscent of a quiet summer day in nature—light, vibrant, and refreshingly clear.
Whether as a towel, gift wrapping (furoshiki), headband, table runner or decoration: This tenugui is versatile, easy to care for and accompanies everyday life with quiet quality.
