This tenugui showcases a finely tuned interplay of nature motifs and a serene design. It is crafted by the family-run company HAMAMONYO in Yokohama – a manufacturer with over 75 years of experience in the traditional wet-dyeing technique (Yokohama Nassen). The design is hand-printed onto a fine cotton fabric, bleached without chlorine and specially developed for tenugui production. It is soft, skin-friendly, and pleasantly lightweight.
The image shows lush, flowering wisteria cascading like a natural curtain over a tranquil koi pond. Gentle ripples spread across the water, creating a scene of stillness, depth, and beauty. The scene evokes a clear spring day in the garden – fragrant, serene, and gently moving.
Whether as a towel, gift wrapping (Furoshiki), headband, table runner or decoration: This Tenugui is versatile, easy to care for and accompanies everyday life with quiet quality.
The design was awarded the “Gold Award” of the OMOTENASHI Selection in 2022 – a recognition of Japanese hospitality, craftsmanship and design.
