Nightshade under drooping cherry blossoms
This tenugui depicts an elegant, high-contrast spring scene with gently falling cherry blossoms (sakura) against a deep black background. Delicate pink and white blossoms glide into the picture from above – as if one were standing beneath a shidarezakura (sakura) on a tranquil night. The clean lines and muted color palette lend the motif a particularly refined effect.
It is manufactured by the long-established family business HAMAMONYO in Yokohama – a specialist in the Yokohama wet dyeing technique with over 75 years of experience. The cotton fabric used is chlorine-free bleached, soft, skin-friendly, and was specially developed for Tenugui production.
The design impressively combines tranquility, dignity and aesthetics – ideal for lovers of classic Japanese motifs.
Whether as a towel, gift wrapping (Furoshiki), headband, table runner or wall decoration: This Tenugui is versatile, easy to care for and an authentic piece of high-quality Japanese craftsmanship.
The design was awarded the “Gold Award” by the OMOTENASHI Selection – a recognition of Japanese hospitality, craftsmanship and sophisticated design.
