This tenugui depicts the majestic Mount Fuji (富士山) through the changing seasons. Cherry blossoms (spring), maple leaves (autumn), snow-capped peaks (winter), and bamboo or plum blossoms (summer) form a harmonious composition around Japan's most famous mountain. Divided by a decorative, traditional Japanese pattern, the image almost seems like a window into time.
The design elegantly combines nature, symbolism and aesthetics – a calm, contemplative view of the changing year.
The scarf is produced by the renowned family-run company HAMAMONYO in Yokohama. Specializing in the Yokohama wet -dyeing technique for over 75 years, they create durable, detailed, and brilliantly colored tenugui. The cotton fabric used is chlorine-free bleached, exceptionally soft, and gentle on the skin.
The design was awarded the “Gold Award” by the OMOTENASHI Selection – a seal of quality for excellent Japanese craftsmanship and sophisticated design.
