Summer, happiness and a touch of humor
This playful tenugui comes from the long-established manufacturer HAMAMONYO in Yokohama. The family business has been working with the traditional wet-printing technique (Yokohama Nassen) for over 75 years, producing high-quality cotton towels that are soft, durable, and chlorine-free. The fabric was specially developed for tenugui production and is suitable for everyday use as well as for gifting.
The design combines round watermelons with small Daruma faces. Some fruits are sliced open, others display a stylized Daruma in green. The pattern is airily arranged on a light background, giving the motif a summery freshness and lightness. The Daruma figure traditionally symbolizes perseverance and good fortune – in this version with a touch of humor.
Whether used as a kitchen towel, gift wrapping, table decoration, or summer accessory, this tenugui combines Japanese symbolism with seasonality and a good dose of charm.
