Hares in the glow of the moon

This Tenugui is called 月影うさぎ (Tsukikage Usagi) and shows two hares (うさぎ) before a clear full moon, taking up the well-known Japanese imagery of moon-viewing and legend.

The pared-back composition, with its strong contrast between the bright moon and the dark surroundings, gives the motif a calm, poetic depth. This makes the design simple, elegant and wonderfully atmospheric.
