This tenugui depicts Mount Fuji (富士山) floating majestically above a vast sea of clouds (雲海, unkai) , while cherry blossoms (桜, sakura) gently fall from the sky in the foreground. The delicate color scheme of pink, blue, and violet creates a dreamy mood reminiscent of early spring mornings—before daybreak and the blossoms still dance in the air.

In the lower area, a stylized pagoda rises from the blanket of fog, reinforcing the impression of depth and tranquility. A harmonious interplay of nature, tradition, and symbolism.

The cloth is manufactured by the long-established Yokohama-based company HAMAMONYO , which has specialized in the Yokohama wet dyeing technique for over 75 years. The cotton fabric used is chlorine-free bleached, soft, skin-friendly, and specially developed for tenugui production.

The motif was awarded the “Gold Award” by the OMOTENASHI Selection – a distinction for excellent Japanese craftsmanship and timeless design.
