Traditional craftsmanship combined with summer festivities
This tenugui combines floral elegance with the radiance of a Japanese summer evening. It is crafted by the family-run company HAMAMONYO in Yokohama – a manufacturer with over 75 years of experience in the traditional wet-dyeing technique (Yokohama Nassen). The design is hand-printed onto a fine cotton fabric, bleached without chlorine and specially developed for tenugui production. It is soft, skin-friendly, and pleasantly lightweight.
White moonflowers (yogaō) are visible in the foreground, while a colorful summer firework display (natsu hanabi) illuminates the sky above. The scene is reminiscent of a Japanese summer festival – festive, vibrant, and yet serene. A motif that captures the light, fragrance, and colors of summer.
Whether as a towel, gift wrapping (Furoshiki), headband, table runner or decoration: This Tenugui is versatile, easy to care for and accompanies everyday life with quiet quality.
The design was awarded the “Gold Award” of the OMOTENASHI Selection in 2022 – a recognition of Japanese hospitality, craftsmanship and design.
