Silent snowscape with Mount Fuji and pagoda
This tenugui depicts a peaceful winter landscape with gently falling snow, a red pagoda, and Mount Fuji beneath a bright full moon. It is produced by the family-run company HAMAMONYO in Yokohama – experts in the Yokohama wet -printing technique with over 75 years of experience. The cotton fabric used is chlorine-free bleached, exceptionally soft, and specially developed for tenugui production.
At the center stands a five-story pagoda (五重塔, gojū-no-tō) rising before the white Mount Fuji. Cranes fly through the night sky, while snowflakes drift down onto pine branches and rooftops – a winter greeting in serene elegance.
Whether as a towel, gift wrapping (Furoshiki), headband, table runner or decoration: This Tenugui is versatile, easy to care for and a stylish companion through the cold season.
The design was awarded the “Gold Award” of the OMOTENASHI Selection in 2022 – a recognition of Japanese hospitality, craftsmanship and design.
