Wa-taoru "Omusubi Narabe"

An appetizing accompaniment with charming rice balls

This charming little towel is called Omusubi Narabe , which translates to "Rice Balls in a Row." The design celebrates one of Japan's most popular snacks: onigiri (or omusubi ). Against a pure white background, you'll find various versions of these delicious triangles—some classically wrapped in a sheet of nori seaweed, others with a bright red umeboshi (salted plum) in the center.

As part of our Wa-taoru series, this towel offers a noticeable functional advantage over the classic tenugui: The front, made of smoothly woven cotton, allows the playful illustrations to shine brilliantly, while the soft terry cloth back ensures excellent absorbency. The design comes from HAMAMONYO in Yokohama. Thanks to the traditional Yokohama wet printing technique, the colors are particularly long-lasting and the outlines of the small rice balls remain razor-sharp, giving the towel a particularly high-quality feel.
