Kiwi meets Kiwi – A humorous design for everyday life
This charming little towel is called Tokotoko Kiwi – which means "Tripping Kiwi". The design humorously plays on the similarity of names between the green fruit and the flightless bird from New Zealand, which is very popular in Japan due to its cute appearance.
The design features small, brown kiwi birds wandering across a white background alongside sliced and whole kiwifruit. As part of our Wa-taoru series, this towel offers a functional advantage over the classic tenugui: the smooth woven cotton front allows the delicate illustrations to shine brilliantly, while the soft terry cloth back ensures excellent absorbency. This makes it the perfect, handy companion for your handbag or for a quick freshening on the go.
The design comes from HAMAMONYO in Yokohama. Thanks to the traditional Yokohama wet printing technique, the colors are particularly long-lasting and the outlines of the small birds and fruits remain razor-sharp, giving the towel a particularly high-quality feel.

Care and instructions
- Wash:Washable up to 40 °C.
- Recommendation:A laundry net is ideal! It prevents zippers or buttons on other garments from pulling threads out of the terry cloth side ("thread puller").
- Dry:Do not tumble dry. The heat could cause the two different layers of fabric to shrink unevenly, resulting in the cloth becoming misshapen. Simply pull it into shape and hang it up.
- Thread puller:Should a terry cloth loop come loose: Do not pull on it! Simply cut the protruding thread short with scissors. Since it is a woven loop, this will not create a hole.
- Softener:Use sparingly or not at all, as it reduces the absorbency of the terry cloth ("gliding effect" instead of drying).
